Concept of marriage

   

              Marriage, a legally and socially sanctioned

union, usually between a man and a woman, which

is governed by laws, rules, customs, beliefs and

relationships that define the rights and obligations

of partners and grant status to their descendants.

                 

                              The versatility of marriage in different societies and cultures is due to the many basic

social and personal functions for which it provides structure, such as sexual gratification and regulation,

the division of labor between the sexes, economic production and consumption, and the satisfaction of
